The tradition of dyeing eggs red holds deep significance. The red color symbolizes the blood and sacrifice of Christ on the cross, while the egg represents his resurrection.
The first red egg that is dyed is regarded as the egg of the Virgin Mary and is kept in the home for protection against the evil eye until the following year when a new "first egg" is dyed.
Traditionally, eggs are dyed on Holy Thursday in preparation for the feast on Easter Sunday.
Wishing everyone a joyful Easter celebration!
